How to identify budgies gender? What is the gender of my budgies?

God has created a partner for every living organism. Identifying the gender of mammals is not something difficult because of their genital parts, you can easily identify the gender of your dog or cat when they are born. However, telling the gender of birds has never been easy. Every type of bird has its own characteristics, like in peacocks, the male has a long beautiful tail whereas the female has a small tail. On the other hand, love birds are identified by their pelvis bone formation, the male has closed whereas the female has open or wider than male.

For budgies, I would say thanks to GOD that we have a very simple rule to identify its gender. If the budgie nose(cere) is "Blue" or  "Purple" you can easily say that its a male (♂), on the other hand, Female(♀️) has "White" or "Brown" nose.  In females, the brown color of the nose usually becomes prominent when it is on heat and ready for breeding.
This is the general rule which is used in almost every part of the world to identify the gender but in the case of Albinos the rules are a bit different a budgie with the purple nose can be female or male, hence most of the albinos are female by birth whether their noses are purple or white. There is a 25% percent chance of male out of a hundred newborns in albinos which must have a strong purple color nose.

What is the right time to identify budgie sex?

When a budgie is born, it has a black beak with purple or skin color cere. It is nearly impossible to identify sex at this time. It takes almost 2-3 weeks that budgies nose has got some differentiation either dark purple(male) or whitish-blue(female), but still, you cannot confirm the sex for a female until she becomes mature (4-8 months) with white-nose.

Can male budgies change their sex?

Technically this is not possible but sometimes their nose or cere turns to brown and it is just because of the increase in the secretion of the feminine hormone due to some disorders but they remain male and when they get normal their nose turns to blue once again.

Can we identify the sex of budgie with behavior?
Identifying sex with behavior is kind of hit and trial rule, you can not say its a boy or girl because your budgie is very active or making a lot of noises. Yes, this is true that male budgies make more noises as compared to female budgies but this happens in females also when they have hormonal changes. So this is impossible to identify the sex of budgie on the basis of behavior.

Budgies Breeding Guide

Mating and breeding is a natural process and every healthy living organism has a desire for sex when they reach maturity. In birds, there are different breeding signs when they reach maturity but in budgie, breeding signs are very clear as to when the female is on heat or ready for mating her cere become thick and its color turns  from white  into light brown. The mating is confirmed when your budgie female start nesting.  What is the budgie breeding age? Normally budgies are ready to breed at the age of 6 months but it’s better to allow them to breed at the age of 8 months because younger mothers cannot take good care of their clutches. How many clutches do budgies have in a year?  In wild, budgie normally has two clutches in the year means once in six months but in captivity, budgies may have up to 3 to 5  clutches in a year if they are not used for commercial breeding.  How many years budgies can b

What is half sider budgie?

Half sider is not genetic, it's a unique defect that occurs accidentally when two different yolks fertilize with two different sperms and then those two separately fertilized eggs fuse together. In birds, this happens exactly just before the eggshell forms around the zygote. This fusion produces a rare kind of budgie that is separated with two colors vertically right from the center, like half blue and half green(classic half sider).  Half siders are totally opposite of identical twins. Instead of a single fertilized ovum splitting into two embryos, it's two different zygote fusing and resulting in one embryo.  This doesn't happen only in budgies but it is also seen in humans, cats, cockatiels and in different kinds of birds. Here are some pictures of half-siders.  How to produce a half sider budgies? Or How can I get half sider budgie? Some people think to put two different colors of budgies together (Blue and Green) will result in classic half si
